Carletta Sue KayRandy Walker is the vocalist for the band Carletta Sue Kay, where he takes on the persona of front woman Carletta, adopting the name of his cousin who served time for attempting to fire bomb her ex-boyfriend’s apartment. He has a four octave vocal range, and writes songs that are brilliantly moving, often humorous, and a little bit unsettling. Randy talks about his upbringing in Fontana, CA, home to the Hell’s Angels, Mexican Mafia, and Sammy Hagar. Randy describes his early life singing in church, his experience with musical theater, recording vocals with one of his favorite bands, The Magnetic Fields, and why he chose to perform as Carletta Sue Kay. We also talk about their debut album, Incongruent.
